Is the 11-87 Sportsman gas cylinder collar only used on 11-87 Sportsman wood forearms? I switched it to a synthetic forearm and the collar does not fit. I figured it is used to protect the wood forearms only. Thanks for the help.

Well, there is one I don't know.   I have very little knowledge of the Sporting guns and those are true Pressure Compensated.   Which is why prior to 2012 when Freedom Group changed the Remington serial numbering system all the 11-87 serial numbers started with PC for pressure compensated.   However, the 11-87 Police is not pressure compensated thus my lack of knowledge about that part since it is not used on the P model.

See how good I am.   I did not know the answer to your question so I babbled on about something I did know in an attempt to impress someone.   Did it work?

I just picked up a 1987 built 11-87 special purpose mag, 26” cent run barrel. Is this gas cylinder collar is the C shaped ring that sits over the two holes on the front of the barrel ring? I’ve not seen this part before, the other 11-87s I’ve owned were the “deer” versions and both had a larger metal sleeve that sat between the barrel ring and hand guard. This gun does not have the metal sleeve.
