I had given my favorite carry pistol to my nephew due a 20 year old promise. My nephew decided he wanted something more modern, he did not like the heel clip mag release, so he took my Bersa Thunder this time and gabe me back the East German which I have not been able to see the sights on, they kept shrinking on me. So, I promptly drove it over to North Branch to Amerigun for some new sights. After perusing all their options I picked their own brand of night sight. It is not as svelte looking as some other custom sights, the rear sight is a bit blocky, but I like the flat high front for possible one handed wracking of the slide in an emergency.

The main reason I picked their proprietary sight was the interesting rear sight picture, sight window is more triangular then square, giving a lot of light at the bottom of the sight for high visibility and the top is a tighter opening which gives very nice precision sighting, rather like the original small thin Mak sight. The dots are high visibility in all light situations, and the tritium dots are nice and bright in the dark. Very pleased so far and the guys at Amerigun are excellent to deal with, they do great work, plus have a nice dog to pet.

Congrats on getting your Makarov back.  The rear sight is a bit high but the sight set looks good and if you shoot it well that's all that matters.

Looks like a good carry gun to me! I carried a CZ 82 for a while, the only down side is factory self-defense ammo for it was pretty limited.

Maks are good, solid guns and reliable as heck.  I've passed around a dozen or so over the years to friends and family needing a gun.  FWIW, I like the Emerson Big Dot sights for them, but that is just a personal preference.
