When I posted the story about Wilson Combat buying Chip McCormick/Shooting Star I predicted the prices would go up because of the Wilson Combat Name.  A buyer bought the last of the Chip McCormick 10 rd Power Mags I had listed on my store so I ordered more yesterday.   As predicted the price went up.   Same magazine built in the same plant by the same people but now cost more. The increase is about 10% on the Dealer cost end not sure about the retail end.

Still, I will use them and offer them on the store as they are quality magazines and I recommend them for carry and duty use.   There are all kinds of 1911 magazine out there that cost far less and are fine for range use but I want the Power mag in a fight.

One gripe I have about magazines is cost.  Many of the magazines that I have for my weapons cost a lot.   Yet, the most dependable magazine maybe ever created is the Magpul p-mag for the AR-15 and those can be had in 30 rd for under $15.   Magpul even makes magazine for the Glocks that are very inexpensive and function flawlessly.  Not an AR guy or Glock guy but my hats off to Magpul for high quality and budget prices.

I know that no one thinks about the price of magazines when they buy a gun so even cheaper guns have magazines that are very pricey.   I am shocked at the cost of some of the magazine for the lower priced bolt action rifles out there.

Also of note is there are a lot of useless magazines out there.  I have friend that can get anything he wanted for Dealer cost from me but he insist on buying from those discount flyers he gets in the mail and will buy the cheapest magazines they offer.  He has yet to learn "Buy Cheap, buy often".

So I can gripe about magazine prices but in the end will have quality magazines for my weapons and cheaper ones for range use to take the abuse.   I have less to gripe about then most because as a dealer I am paying dealer price for my stuff and maybe have no right to gripe.  But being a true American I will always exercise my rights to bitch about something.
