I got this receiver free in a trade for some 870 parts. Then I added a mix of some new, used, and take off parts laying around.

Those are the best ones and I like rough and tumble guns where not a lot of $$ are sunk into them.  I'm more apt to use those as the tools like they are supposed to be.

Thank you and I agree. I enjoy them a lot more than my ‘pretty’ stuff!

That is really the way to do it.  I tell people that something inexpensive and beat up is the best choice for your normal defensive use because when the police come and take it away from you, put it in the evidence room for a few years without taking care of it, and generally abuse the thing you won't be nearly as upset than if it were the super custom job you have put several thousand dollars into.

I really like that look! All business.

I keep mine striker down on an empty chamber, safety off and five rounds of 00 in the eight round magazine.

Thanks and I never thought of that. I guess keep it cheap because if you have to use it, your only ever going to use it once.
