Found this site by accident, but heck I have done a lot of things by accident. Recently retired with 38 years with the local Sheriff's Office. I started helping a local PD shortly after retiring as a Auxiliary Officer so that they can have an extra firearms instructor of board. Was the head Instructor for the SO.

I did all of the shotgun training when I was there so I am a big fan of the shotgun, one rode with me for 35 plus years in my patrol car, in cruiser ready position.

I hope to learn more about the shotgun for everyone hear. I have run Remington's, Mossberg and Benelli. I liked them all, but heck if it goes bang when it is suppose to then I like it.

Thanks for letting me roll with you guys. Tap up and lets go.

Welcome.   Bunch of old farts here and they take long naps.   I suspect posting to pick up now that the Strip Clubs are closed.

Jump in anytime and start a topic just for shits and giggles.   A good one would be why the shotgun is disappearing in Law Enforcement.  I have some very strong opinions on that one.

“A good one would be why the shotgun is disappearing in Law Enforcement.  I have some very strong opinions on that one.“

Welcome DMB... Glad to have more shotgun fans from the use and training environment. I’m not one of you since I’m just a lowly, old freight pilot, hauling around boxes for FedEx at the ripe old age of 68 and counting... And I’m also a big shotgun fan. When there’s no pandemics mucking up the works, I usually shoot one or two of them (the shotguns) once a week. I love ‘em.

As to JD’s question above, his answer is a classic BTW, I’m not doubting the validity of the assumption. I’m just wondering if there is any data to back up the anecdotal evidence that “the shotgun is disappearing in Law Enforcement”. Any studies on it that anyone knows of?

Thanks,
Tim

Yes, Plenty.  Most Academies no long Train on the Shotgun and leave it up to the individual Departments.   LE Sales of Shotguns is almost non existent.  Receritication classes at the Remington Factory seat 30.  I have been in classes with 32 and as few as 24 but the last one was put off for two months and when it did take place only had 9 people counting me in it.

Lets start a discussion in the Shotgun part of this forum.   I will start it later as I am done for the night and about to fall out.  And no it is not because of Bombay as I haven't had one in three weeks but hope to make up for it soon.
