I will add that the fact it is an election year and our politics are so polarized has had an impact on the response to this event.   We can take a lot of good from this if we think about it.   What could have been done differently?  What did we not have enough of?  What didn't we do to be ready for such an event.

As for me for the most part the answers to the above are nothing, nothing and nothing.   I have been preaching to all my employees and friends about such an event for years.   My Emergency food has a shelf live of 25 years and most is already 12 years old.  I have back ups for my back ups and yes, I am sure I have been the blunt of jokes from many people but none of them are laughing now.

For three years I have been trying to get a select small group of friends and employees to come here for a Test weekend off the grid.  Very simple.  They are get here on Friday and we kill the power.  We appoint duties for the weekend, cooking, washing dishes, standing watch over night and making runs on the quad to fetch water ( even though we have plenty for a weekend).    We never seemed to get everyone on board at the same time and it kept getting put off.  Now all of them, every freaking one of them have brought it up and even suggested we do one in the summer and one in the winter once all this mess is finished.  They are motivated now but we will see how long that last once things get back to normal.

Each and every one of us need to do an after incident assessment of our response to what has happened and to what can happen in the future.   And yes, I found one thing I did not have and that was disinfecting wipes.   So I made them.  I had two tubes of the large pad of disinfecting pads that go on the Swifter Mob.   They come in a plastic tube.  So, I opened the tube and poured Alcohol in there and put the lid back on.   I have one in my vehicle and wipe my hand, truck handles and other things when I am out and about.   These can be washed in the washing machine and then put back in the tube, alcohol soaked again and the lid put on.   But I will purchase wipes and hand sanitizer for my supplies after this is over.

Now is the best time to start making list of what you wish you had and in what quantities.   Do it now while it is fresh in you mind.

No argument here - Like Einstein said: “Everything is Relative “. I personally don’t view 40,000 (+) U.S. deaths, to date, as an “inconvenience“. Nor do I think their family and friends would view it as such but opinions are like noses - everyone has one and no two are the same.
I quote Matthew 10:14:
“And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that home or village.”

Good post, JD, and one that should be in major media rather than tucked away on a firearms discussion board.  It is interesting to see how my various friends and associates are handling this.  One group is sort of like me...put back some money, stockpiled food and supplies, have back-up resources and so on, and in general are taking this in stride.  The second group is living sort of day by day.  They were desperate to get their stimulus checks so they could pay bills.  They are going to the grocery store 3 or 4 times a week hoping to find what they need before somebody else buys it, and generally are terrified about this.  Every other year I teach a Survival Preparedness class and I've already heard form over a dozen faculty members wanting to know if they can sit in on the course this Fall.  So hopefully folks will learn from this.  For me this is fairly mild in the overall scheme of things and much, if not most, of the damage has been caused my reactions to the virus rather than the virus itself.  And it is interesting to find out where the holes are that you might have missed in your prep.  You missed disinfectant wipes, I missed distilled water.  I use a bi-pap breathing machine and it takes distilled water.  Well, I had a gallon, no big deal, right?  WRONG!  couldn't fin d any anywhere for a few weeks.  My daughter finally found a couple of gallons and grabbed them to bring to me.  So one of my projects now is any time I open something that is a regular use item I put down the date it comes into use and when it runs out.  How long does a roll of toilet paper last, or that can of coffee, or the tube of toothpaste and so on.

I don't consider ANY deaths an inconvenience, but given the reality of how those mortality figures are playing out, the Super BioWeapon thing is pretty over the top, IMO.

So that is why those Jehovah Witnesses are shaking their feet after I throw them off my property.

All without firing a single shot but it did divert attention from Taiwan and eliminate the protests for the Chinese.

I can't even begin to name the things that kill alot more people around the globe than this virus. We never shut the whole world down for any of them. I don't personally believe the virus decimated our economy. I believe our leaders did that. It wasn't just Taiwan either. Look around the world. Brexit finally happpened, people marching in Germany and France, the Catalonians were just protesting. There was a nationalist movement going on in alot of places. People protesting for their freedom. I'm not saying I think that's the reason for any of this. I just think alot and it seems to be very good timing.
