When a major issue is the news I always got the various network news sites to see how they report on it.  You know the results based on which site you go to.

One thing that I have noticed is the trend to have sections for various groups.  For example NBC as the following sections.

OUT - for gays

Latino American

Asian American

NBCBlk- for Black Americans

Are they trying to keep us divided?  Seems that way.   Yes, I know we are a diverse country but are we all not Americans? Can we American first and all the rest later.

How is news reported on a major network web site something to break down and report to separate groups.   It seems to me keeping such division is of some benefit to some people.   The Democrats want us separated and they pander to various minority groups in this country.  The Republicans on the other hand want assimilation and equality for all.

I have to say the idea that we assimilate in such a way that we can still maintain our diversity and see ourselves as Americans first and then we can celebrate our diversity is the best way to come together.

I guess I am in minority with that way of thinking.   But I may just be that way because it would be hard to explain that I am a Jewish Scotch Irish white short baldhead white American named David.  So I just consider myself an American.  Damn just typing all that wore me out.

Yes, it is intentional. And what the left doesn't want known is that assimilation need not erase one's ethnic identity. The term <insert ethnic group here>-American is saying it backwards, IMO. It should be American-<insert ethnic group here>
All assimilation means is that we have a common American background, pride in the country,  and language to unify us, but that does not mean surrendering ones's heritage or parent language. It just means learning English, not unlearning Spanish, Urdu, Russian, etc. You can and should teach your kids the language of their heritage. Moving to the US and DEMANDING to have your business transacted in your language is even worse than the Ugly American vacationing stereotype.

Yeah, JD, I'm such a Heinz 57 mix it's just a lot easier to say I'm an American, too.

You put that very well entropy.   I have a friend that gets an attitude when anyone refers to him as African American.  He always replied " I not an African American, I have never been to Africa, I was born in Manistee Michigan".  He did not say it friendly as he tone was to make a point.

The way I see it, you contribute to the country and your neighbors...or you don't. I dont care what you do with your dick, or what color you are, or what your favorite food is, so long as you're a benefit to those in your community and the country as a whole.

ADMIN:  I don't listen to modern country music, I guess I could but then I would one of those people that listen to modern country music, anyway this story is not about country music but goes along with they want to keep us divided.   It is a perfect example of what this tread is about.   Here is the story:

Former Arkansas Gov. and GOP presidential contender Mike Huckabee – long an advocate for music and the arts – was forced to resign from the Country Music Association Foundation Board Thursday, less than a day after being appointed, because of backlash against his conservative views.

Country music, once an inclusive industry that welcomed conservatives and people of faith, has now become an exclusive, politically correct group, indistinguishable from the rest of the entertainment industry.

Join Red Pass Plus and get 1 year of free shipping. It’s good for your business. It’s great for your bottom line.

The message country music fans received this week is that if you share Huckabee’s conservative political views there’s no room for you in country music.

The Country Music Association Foundation encourages kids to pursue music by helping students get involved in music programs and providing access to instruments. Huckabee used to showcase country music stars on his Fox News Channel show and play bass guitar with the stars he featured. He credits music for giving him confidence as a kid and for a lot of success in life.

How can we hope to tackle the issue of bullying in our schools when adults won’t stop bullying each other? We’ve reached the point where some people are offended about getting offended and so bully the other side into silence. We have to stop this insanity.

In his resignation letter to the board, Huckabee said: “I hope that the music and entertainment industry will become more tolerant and inclusive and recognize that a true love for kids having access to the arts is more important than a dislike for someone or a group of people because of who they are or what they believe.”

Apparently, we’ve become so divided in our country that we’ve reached a time where we can no longer peacefully coexist and respect each other’s differences. Even when kids are involved.

Historically, country music has had a large conservative fan base. And when you’re trying to sell music it’s never a good idea to alienate a considerable portion of your fan base. That’s a lesson the Dixie Chicks learned in 2003 when singer Natalie Maines announced the group was ashamed President George W. Bush was from Texas.

The Dixie Chicks’ No. 1 single disappeared from the charts and the group has never had a song in the top 30 since then. That was 15 years ago, but it’s still talked about. It’s also something country music singer-songwriter Radney Foster said artists still need to consider if they want their songs played on the air.

You have to wonder what threatens these people so much about conservative values that it would elicit such hatred and intolerance toward someone who simply has a different opinion. All Huckabee did was get elected to the foundation, and the next day he was bullied into resigning, without having said a word.

In fact, in his resignation letter he said: “All of us have deep passions about our beliefs. I do about mine. But I hate no one. I wish upon NO ONE the loss of life or livelihood because that person sees things differently than me.”

How can we hope to tackle the issue of bullying in our schools when adults won’t stop bullying each other? We’ve reached the point where some people are offended about getting offended and so bully the other side into silence. We have to stop this insanity.

What’s ludicrous is that Huckabee’s role on the CMA Foundation would have had nothing to do with his conservative views. It would have had everything to do with his passion for music and how it shaped his life, and how he wanted to help kids use music to do the same in their lives.

As governor of Arkansas he advocated for music and arts programs in public schools and was able to get legislation passed so that all kids from elementary through high school had music and arts programs. You would think artists – who often lobby for more public investments arts education – would want someone on the foundation board who has successfully fought for such investments.

Sorry governor, conservatives need not apply.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said of her dad on Friday: “He was a shy kid and hated to be in front of people until he learned to play the guitar when he was about 11 and so this is something he’s passionate about – that’s not going to stop, that’s not going to change. And he’ll continue advocating for that.”

There’s a battle going on in our country to target conservatives and people of faith. It’s the politically correct form of discrimination. We see it coming from Hollywood, from liberals in the media and from the far left in Washington. And now country music is jumping on the bully bandwagon.

Huckabee was right when he said “hate won” this week, but this isn’t the end. There are countless conservatives and people of faith in this country, and now more than ever we are very well aware that our beliefs are under attack.

We’ve seen enormous overreach from the politically correct crowd to silence conservatives and people of faith in this country. The overreach is one of the reasons President Trump got elected, which is something they still haven’t reconciled.

Those on the left have instead chosen to ignore the facts and continue their orchestrated effort to use political correctness to target those who disagree with them.

Lauren DeBellis Appell was deputy press secretary for then-Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., in his successful 2000 re-election campaign, as well as assistant communications director for the Senate Republican Policy Committee (2001-2003).

We need to remember who we are and not be afraid to say so.
My family is white and native American, yet I am the only
family member to claim it.
How it got that way I do not know.
If you hide from who you are, you don't have much room
to say Damn that's wrong.

As for country music, it died in the late 70's.
Producers today have no idea what country
music really is.

Of coarse they want us divided. I've read alot here and from what I've seen, most of the people here are up there in age. That means you've been around long enough to see just how far it has fallen. You've also seen how much politicians have changed.....or finally exposed their true views rather. " United we stand, divided we fall" we've all heard that before. They wrote it because they knew something we forgot.

I've seen this country fall very far in the last 15 years. It had help. Lots of help. They definitely want us divided as much as possible. They're taking our rights away little by little. Our constitution isn't compatible with the laws we have today. To many of them are unconstitutional. It was us allowing them to do this that had helped it progress to the point it's at today. It's just my opinion.

I definitely agree that everyone can be an American and still honor their own heritage.

The one thing I learned in academia is that illegal immigrants aren't the biggest problem. Whatever their background (native-born or immigrant), it's the educated ones you gotta watch. Marxist professors got taken in by academia and now that communism failed they've shifted towards "critical theory" which boils down to: "Our utopian aspirations failed miserably but capitalism is still bad". During the 70s, college kids tried to teach "class consciousness" to factory workers they met in their summer jobs but at least back then a factory worker in the US made too good of a living here to justify communist revolution. They still try clas warfare, but identity politics has worked much better here because it undermines the narrative of "come here, work hard, and you'll have a better life" by allowing people to blame others for holding them back. Then those people say government should fix this. It's known as "cultural Marxism" and it targets our nation's unique strengths. The US attracts some of the best and brightest because they have the freedom to earn more money and keep more of it. The anti-freedom crowd can't say our Constituion and Bill of Rights don't work because we're the biggest global superpower ever, but they can ad hominem the white slaveowners who wrote it and say this country was made for white people even though there's immigrant groups who have done way better on average than white people.

I've met Econ professors from other countries who really dig the American way of life, but for every one of those there's more who "love our milk and honey but preach about some other way of livin'" as Merle would say. Job prospects or not, I can't go back to academia and fully exercise my 1st amendment. The dangerous part about being top dog is we have a lot more to lose than those that want to tear down this country and what it stands for. As someone who made it out of the public indoctrination system and has seen the classroom from both sides, I know the sophist playbook and aim to inform anyone I can. Even if you've never stepped on a college campus, these foreign and homegrown ideologues took my generation as a captive audience and their ideas filter into the mainstream narrative eventually. After having to hit page count the way some units had to hit body count just to rate some slack, I got my fancyschmancy grad degree and then got as far away as possible. I can hit page count all over again ranting about what these people will tell you when you really speak their language. The worst prison is your own mind, and I'm just figuring that out after a year being done with school and applying for a job just barely related to my travel experiences that pays minimum wage but only asks for some of my time and effort while, giving me room for growth.

If you LEOs know about the Duluth Model, you know exactly what I mean when I say these ivory tower ideologies have real world consequences. The good news is that people who taste freedom don't want to give it up so the war of ideas can easily be won just by us bringing more people into our "hobbies". I like to preach US history but what wins people over is how much more fun we are allowed to have over on this side.

It is rather simple.  Everyone is trying to come here.  They want what we have, so, we must have the best.

Educators in higher learning are for the part simply people who spend the majority of their time attempting to justify their own existence and worth.  The best thing that could happen to this country is for young people to walk away from the so called "Halls of Higher Learning" and learn to make a living with their hands.    The trades are screaming for people and these are well paying jobs that will there will always be a call for.   Also, and those reading this who work with their hands know this, you will have a healthier better life for it.

I have been putting my Security Officer in the same plant for over 18 years.   The Millwrights, Fitters, EI's, Welder, Operators and HEO's there make serious money and for the most part are healthy people ( given genetics of birth being an exception).  Working all day and coming home to a shower, a hot meal and your easy chair mean something when you really work.

I have also noticed a trend in the past few years.   Foreigners are becoming a major part of the Trucking Industry because young people are not interested.   Most are from Eastern Europe and South America and the language barriers are creating problems for Order Management and for my employees.

If we as parents rely on the schools to prepare our kids for the real world then we deserve what we get from it and it will not be pleasant.
