Looking at options other than replacing the trigger plate assembly on a recent production 870.  Does anyone have experience with Fortmann's left hand safety conversion, available at Midway USA @ $16.99?  Understand it's polymer, but isn't life these days?  Thanks in advance!

It works, I’ve used one without issue on a work gun. That said I wish there was a large head metal one available.

I honestly believe the metal vs polymer (plastic) trigger assemblies is blown out of proportion. If you ask the majority of people what’s the best handgun (even though I don’t own one) on the market today they will say Glock. What is a Glock? Polymer-plastic.

Well the safety is a great feature for lefty . as for trigger group I still like metal it's proven to last plastic the jury is still out on I have seen glocks with broken frames and plastic trigger guards as well . over time polymer will harden and crack . as to how many century's that is nobody knows . they just haven't been around that long to see .

Polymer it may be, (my Yoda imitation) but it beats all the contortionism needed otherwise with a RH Remington shooting left-handed.

I agree. It’s better than what I used to have to do to get the safety off. Reaching through or under the trigger guard was less than ideal.

Remington does make a right hand eject, left hand safety trigger assembly. Our host sells them. I have an extra Matte finish one I bought from him for my last project and ended up needing a polished one (long story, lol). It is new / unused. I’m will to sell it for a little less than I paid to free up the $. Message me if you’re interested.
