Don, that sounds great. And even lighter still. My stupid problem is getting brave enough to drill holes in my bootifull, wood stock... 😳

I’ve got plenty of Magpul rail sections laying around too. Oh well...

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment.
Yes, definitely get the new carrier assembly. Due to the 11/87’s somewhat odd ways regarding charging a new round, you use that bolt relevase a lot. The extended release from Remington is a big help without being any more in the way than the stock release.

JD was a big help with the acquisition and installation of mine. His prices can’t be beat as well.

I’ve since installed a Nordic components mag extension to save weight over the heavier Wilson Combat model. I was also able to install a plus-one extension from SBE Tactical. This extension only fits the Nordic tubes. While only an inch longer than the stock Nordic end cap, it allows for another round in the tube.

I’ll post pictures to show the difference between the stock Nordic end cap and the SBE + 1...

Also notice that the +1 lines up exactly with the barrel’s length, an esthetic plus to me.

that looks great I do like the +1 better ,it does line up even with the barrel . Great Job , I have a I think 1978 year model Remington 1100 28" barrel I put a +5 extension on it and a combat charging handle putting the tactical carrier assembly will top it off for me. your 1187 has a great look and I like the shorter barrel length, I will certainly keep up with your builds

Thanks copdills

Thanks again.
And once again, JD has whatever barrel you want...
And if you have an interest, I also have my Beretta 1301 Tactical build here in the “Defense Shotguns” category, starting here:
