My daughter and son-in-law just bought two 9mm pistols. One Cantik TP9SF compact and one H&K VP9. I trying to find in-stock some 115gn FMJ and some Hornady 115gr Critical defense or 115gr Zombie Max Handgun Ammo. Everyone seems to be out of all 9mm ammo. I looked at the Hornady ammo because that's what was most recommended so what other brand ammo in the same weight would be a HOME DEFENSE rounds i.e. good penetration, expansion and no over penetration?

Greg Ellifritz at http://www.activeresponsetraining.net/ recommends Speer Gold Dot as a good bullet for all calibers. You can use his site’s search feature to find out more about it and other alternatives.

Some of the older designs are still good.  Might not be as good as the newer designs, but still good and they worked well in the past.  Like Tim said the Gold Dot has a solid reputation.  The Golden Saber stuff was popular with the police for a long time.  Personally I prefer the 124 grain stuff for 9mm and unless you are just stuck on the 115 stuff the other weight will expand your search ability some.  I've also been pretty happy with the old Starfire stuff.  That was my go-to round for a long time in both 45 and 9.

This is getting worse then after Sandy Hook so any you find will have to do for now.   Once all this is over and ammo starts coming back everyone needs to stock up.
