Just wanted to check in. Been shooting and hunting for about 50 years, now most of the focus is on handguns. recently retired to the Tidewater area so getting back to duck hunting is in my fall plans.
I'm a dyed in the woll 870 fan and own several retired police guns. Big fan of the KISS principal when it comes to defence guns.

Welcome aboard.  Things are slow with summer but will pick up once we are done will all the Honey-doos, yard work and those family vacations that drain our gun fund money.   Stick around and jump in any time with comments.  We all learn from each other.

My Son-in-law and grandson have been here this week from VA Beach.  Leaving tomorrow.  I have been run ragged by a 7 year old.  Taking them to the airport tomorrow and I will rest for days to recover.  Whish I had 1/10 the energy of that kid.   My Son-in-law carries the plastic fantastic.   He shot my Commander and fell in love.  He can't have it so I ordered him the R1911 Enhanced Commander.  He has now been converted to Old School.  About 10 million FFL's in Norfolk and VA Beach so he will have one sent to me when he gets home so I can send him his new gun.  I love the fact he and my Daughter carry as they protect each other and my grandson.   He did well with the 1911 and that makes grandpa feel warn and fuzzy.

I started out on a 1911 and after all these years I still like it the best.  In my years or collecting and binge buying I've tried all sorts of pistols- mostly pretenders.  Some have come close to the 1911, but it's yet to be dethroned in my gun kingdom.

WOW.  That R1911 Commander came and I sent it done to Ken's FFL in VA Beach.  Also the features one wants in a Carry Gun and well built.  I saw the First prototype R1911 at the factory in 2010 and could not believe they were jumping back into the handgun market with the 1911 as that market was saturated.  But they have done it and I have purchase five now for people and everyone was made just as well as the high end 1911's.  Here is a Pic
