At the present time I'm outside of the USA and it's tough to get any "true" news, but from what I've seen it looks like the Remington plant in Lion has been shut down due to the virus epidemic. If that is true I wonder if Remington will use that as a reason to shut the plant down permanently. Not trying to start any kind of conspiracy theory, but I've seen in the past that Remington would like to get the plant off it's books.

Most Sane businesses would love to leave the NY climate of high taxes, fees and regulations. When Remington moved into North Carolina, the brain trust that manages the company didn't bring ANY of their long-time maintenance/machinists/set-up employees with them to install the machinery??? In their infinite wisdom, they just chose to relocate all the machinery and ignore the quirks and oddities each machine acquired and  possessed over the years - their quality and tolerances proceeded to go to hades in very short order - the new plant employees knew nothing of the history/personality of each machine. The QC on their Marlin line went to scheiss and it seemed to take forever to get all their equipment back to where it was in NY. The investment companies that are running most of all the manufacturers out there now have little to any intimate knowledge or passion for the products they produce - only the numbers on a spreadsheet and return on their investment! The defects, poor quality  and bad products they produce are considered an acceptable percentage of the manufacturing business and that is why the "Warranty/Customer Service" departments exist!

Remington can not leave NY due to their Union Contract with their workers.  They are all members of the United Mine Workers and Remington would face hundreds of millions in penalties from the anti-gun state government.  I am a Remington Master Gun Shop and they are open to the best of my knowledge.   I will know on Monday when my rep does not send me an Order Confirmation for the order I am working on right now.  I did receive an Order Confirmation for the order I put in on Thursday so I know she is working.

Thanks for weighing in JD. I last talked to a buddy of mine about 6 weeks ago. He is a union steward at Ilion, and he never said word one about any major changes there. I emailed him Saturday, but haven't seen a reply.

I just received a note from a friend in the USA, and he said that President Trump has declared the firearms industry an "essential industry" and therefor can remain open. That puts the kibosh on my original post, so I guess I'll just move on and look for other conspiracy theory's to write about. I'm really glad that the President stood up for the firearms industry, and I'll bet the Democrats are totally apoplectic about his stand. Hope everyone stays safe.

My rep was a little delayed in replying, but did provide me with a quote on Friday for a parts order, so it would appear that they are up and running.

I am getting barrels in so Big Green is still in business.   I have received over 80 barrels since 4-2-20.   Hope they keep up because I have ordered enough to restock my entire store.

All the firearm and ammunition manufacturers are licking their collective lips as their problems with an over-abundance of inventory has all but disappeared due to the sales  frenzy due to the Wuhan Coronavirus Covid-19 and all the media hype regarding it. They will slowly replenish their inventory and enjoy the demand (and sales) from the very limited supply to come.

Well apparently now Remington has a whole different situation to deal with besides staffing and working hours during a virus slowdown

They are meeting the task as Friday I received over $30K in parts including 105 barrels, 83 trigger plate assemblies and the rest in small parts.   That is far less then half my back order but If they meet my back orders in the next month I will be one happy camper.  I have another box coming Monday and I can tell by the weight of the package on the tracking that it contains 10 barrels.   Good news is Big Green is healthy again and will survive the pandemic.  If Trump wins again they will have a bright future.   If Biden wins all firearms manufacturers are in trouble.
