Never shot a slug out of an 18 inch barrel, all of mine are shot out of 20 inch barrels, but I have had good luck with the foster styled slug, the Breneke or sabot type might give a slight bit better long distance accuracy, but for the ranges I hunt I prefer the slightly heavier weight of the Foster type. As for brand, I find little difference really, some guns will shoot different makes better so it is best to try as many as possible. o

I've had great results with the H&R single shot 20 gauge fully rifled barrel. A tack driver. Sabot slugs if I recall correctly. Used several shotguns over the years at work. 14- 20 inch barrels. All had more than acceptable performance with slugs. Remington's, Ithaca's and Benelli's. The only brand that really just sucked was the Smith + Wesson pump action 12 gauge. Just no use for that particular shotgun.
