My store has been using Stripe for over two years.  Today they advised me I am selling prohibited items, Magazines and if I don't remove them they will no longer process payments.  They quote Well Fargo Bank rules as their reason since they are in some kind of business with them.

If you use Stripe or Wells Banks you need to know they are against your Second Amendment Rights.   Since they have decided whom to do business with maybe you should also.

I will have to remove all magazines till I can get the store moved to a place that allows other shopping carts as my current provider only uses Stripe and Pay Pal.

So I remove all the magazines and today the contact me and tell me I am selling switch blades and gravity knives.   I have no automictic knives and never even heard of a gravity knife.  I have folders and sheath knives.   They are refusing to process credit cards on my store.

I only have three option.  Stripe, Square and Pay Pal.  I contact Square and they will not accept me because I sell gun parts.   I hate pay pal but will try them as there are magazines

So we now know Square is anti- Second Amendment also.

Bummer, JD.  I'm not in that business and I don't take credit cards for stuff I do so I don't know all the ins and outs of that, but I do know there have been some strange things going on with the credit card business lately.  We've had a few stories on the local news about problems dealing with them, increased fees and such that are causing issues.  One of the reasons I still try to do everything I can with cash or checks.  i'm afraid the cashless society has the potential for lots of problems!

There are only a couple of companies that will even work with gun dealers.   There are ways to work around some of these issues but I will not do that as when I accept and agree to terms I follow them as it is same as me standing in front of someone and giving them my word.   It cost me to be this way but if Integrity was cheap everyone would have it.

So far 6 other e-commerce sites have turned me down.   I am taking a break and going to work in the garden to unwind and then get back at trying to find a site that will accept me and my CC processor e-processing as they are endorsed by the NRA and NSSF.

JD. I think Stripe reneged on their contractual agreement with you, not the other way around. You’re trying to sell magazines, parts of firearms essentially. Their list of “Restricted Businesses” says:

“Cannabis dispensaries and related businesses; sale of tobacco, e-cigarettes, and e-liquid; online pharmacies; prescription-only products including card-not-present pharmaceuticals; peptides and research chemicals; fake references or ID-providing services; age restricted goods or services; weapons and munitions; gunpowder and other explosives; fireworks and related goods; toxic, flammable, and radioactive materials; products and services with varying legal status on a state-by-state basis; goods or services, the sale of which is illegal under applicable law in the jurisdictions to which your business is targeted or directed.”

Where does it say, “Gun parts”??? Are you selling “weapons and munitions; gunpowder and other explosives”? No!

https://stripe.com/restricted-businesses

Since plenty of companies exist and sell in the US all of the above items, never mind just the parts of firearms, I’d ask them what companies they currently use. The only thing you have to be aware of (and I get it, it’s a big task by itself) are the various states that have restrictions on magazine capacity, and you can’t sell to people that live therein.

All this nonsensical attempt to take over policing of the numerous state regulations by these e-commerce companies blows my mind. How are they responsible if I, a Commiefornia resident, attempt to buy a 30 round magazine, illegal in said state, from you???? I’m no attorney, but I’d say the violation was by you and I, not the company that perpetuated a transfer of money from my bank account to yours. Leave the policing of applicable laws to, horror of horrors, THE POLICE. OMG, what a concept....

We used to be a free nation. Now, we rank somewhere in the middle according to CATO’s recent report. May
God have mercy on us poor, no longer free souls.

I used them for two years with no issue.  However, they say the terms from an agreement with Wells Fargo Bank from March 15, 2019 cause the change.   So, I have no contract with them as you simply accept their terms when you ask to use their service.

I have no recourse.  Now if I was gay and wanted a wedding cake for my wedding and they refused I could sue them for refusing me service.

Well, good luck finding another service. Like I said, plenty of businesses exist (at least currently) that engage in the sale of firearms and ammo, nationwide. They all take credit card transactions. Ask them, if you haven’t already. This kind of thing just really fries me... 😡

Of course there are but they have thousands of dollars to spend on their sites and use their banks.  Small guys have few options.

I have found out that changing (means a lot of money) to a Big Commerce site which allows a company called Authorize.net which is a partner with e-processing is an option.  Wait for their tech to call me about either migrating my store or building another.   No matter which it will set me back a year on profits as the next year or more will go to pay for this.

So goes life for the small business in America as all the big boys rule commerce.

So today June 13th they contact me that I can not sell any knifes at all.  So I going to end the CC processing on the store while I work on the new site through Big Commerce.

Customers will have to call me with their CC info so I can manually enter it on my terminal which is through E-processing which is endorsed by the NRA and NSSF.

My new store will be on line in about 4 weeks so until then Customers will have to pay by check or money order or call me with payment.

Stripe and Wells Fargo Bank can kiss my six.
