I have my duty gun set-up very simple. It has a 18" barrel which is a cylinder bore. Now I have a hunting/all purpose gun that I have been putting together, which has a turkey barrel 20" with a choke system. I'm curious how buckshot and slugs will perform through chokes (cylinder, improved cylinder, etc...). I've seen Remington has a "Tactical" model with a breaching choke, never have tried it. Has anyone fired buckshot or slugs through chokes?

I have set up my main shotgun with a 20 inch accuchoke barrel, a Blackhawk Compstock, old tired shoulders, and fiber optic sights. Have used this setup for everything from turkeys and partridge to home defense uses. Have never had any issues with slugs or buckshot, or bird shot. You obviously want to try the choke tubes to see which give best accuracy. I find improved to be the best compromise for best accuracy with slugs and buckshot both.

As long as it's not a full choke tube, both buck and slugs are fine. I suspect buck would be fine through a full choke also, but I will admit to having never tried it.
